Lisa Curry solemnly arrived at a Sunshine Coast funeral home alongside her husband Mark Tabone on Monday, as she prepares to bid farewell to her beloved mother Pat.

The Olympian confirmed on Thursday that her ‘ma’ had sadly died aged 86, writing on Instagram: ‘Our beautiful mum slipped away peacefully this morning. My heart is broken again.’

Lisa, 59, was supported by her partner as she made the final preparations for Pat’s service on Monday – just one year after the loss of her own daughter Jaimi, 33.

Lisa then poignantly touched on the devastating loss of her daughter Jaimi, who died in September 2020 at the age of 33.

‘My baby girl, and now my mum,’ she wrote.

In February, Lisa reunited with her mother in her aged care facility, one month after the center was placed into lockdown due to Covid.

At the time, Lisa shared a video of herself wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE) during her visit, as she thanked the staff at the facility for looking after her beloved ‘ma’.

‘Finally able to visit my mum in her aged care facility after it was in lockdown for a month. RAT, PPE, sign forms and we can see our ma,’ she captioned the footage.

‘Thank you SO MUCH to all the staff, and all the carers, nurses, doctors who have to wear this get up every single day!! #morepayforournurses.’

She offered the same message in her video, saying: ‘Shout out to all the nurses and doctors, or anyone who has to wear this stuff every single day – I don’t know how you do it, I can’t breathe!

‘Good on you.’ Thanks for looking after our elderly parents. Thanks.’

Lisa shared a sweet tribute to her mother on her 86th birthday last April, where she praised Pat as being the ‘rock’ of the family.

Lisa is often open about her life, and has regularly spoken about the loss of her daughter, Jaimi, who died in September 2020 at the age of 33.

Posting to Instagram last April, Lisa admitted she still struggles to talk about her loss, and experiences ‘pain and fear’ on a daily basis.

‘Our Jaimi.’ My brain has thoughts and conversations that my mouth can’t say,’ Lisa wrote next to a throwback photo of herself cuddling up to her daughter.

‘It’s hard to talk about the pain and fear that is felt daily. Life goes on. People say you get stronger… You don’t. You just learn to hide it better,’ she continued.

‘So many beautiful moments that she would have loved. But we still include her in everything we do,’ Lisa added, explaining that she ‘talks about Jaimi often’ with her three-year-old grandson, Flynn Gruell.

Lisa went on to encourage people who are struggling to seek the help they need.

‘I hope you can understand, know and feel how loved you truly are, and that living life, and not just existing, is worth it,’ she wrote.

‘Keep fighting and don’t give up. Where there is life there is hope. Life is so precious and there’s so much to look forward to.’

She concluded her essay with a final tribute to her daughter.

‘Jaimi was so loved and is so missed. We hide our tears when we say her name, but the pain in our hearts is still the same. Remembering our Jaimi.’

Lisa announced Jaimi’s death in a social media post on September 15 last year, one day after her passing.

‘Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side,’ she wrote at the time.

It was later reported that Jaimi had battled alcoholism and an eating disorder before her death at a Sunshine Coast hospital.

Lisa and her ex-husband Grant Kenny, 58, are also parents to son Jett, 28, and daughter Morgan, 31.
