The University of Minnesota Duluth softball team has signed six recruits to it’s 2023 incoming class. Hanna Hovland, Kendal Jenkins, Ava Johnson, Morgan McMillan, Tori Wietgrefe, and Allyssa Williams have all signed their National Letters of Intent to play softball at UMD. The 2023 freshmen class features three players from Minnesota, two from California, and one from Michigan.

“We are very happy to add Allyssa, Ava, Hanna, Kendal, Morgan, and Tori to our Bulldog Softball family and look forward to helping them reach their full potentials in the classroom, community, and on the field,” said Head Coach. Lynn Anderson. “A lot of talented players have come through this program and we feel this class is no different. With the roster we’ll be returning next year, we’re excited to see the entire group together compete at a high level for each other, alumni, and Bulldog fans.”

The Bulldogs are currently off to their best start in program history at 8-1. Senior Jordan Thomas and sophomore Kiana Bender have each earned NSIC Player of the Week recognition this season, while senior Sam Pederson has taken home NSIC Pitcher of the Week honors as well.

The Bulldogs are heading south this weekend to begin a stretch of twelve games down in Florida. UMD will begin the trip with a pair of games against Pittsburg State University and Assumption College on Friday, Mar. 4 in Jan Phyl Village, FL.
